Magnesium
Everyone is doing their best right now with this “new-normal” and it’s understandable that one of my most asked questions right now is regarding sleep. It’s well known that melatonin can help with sleep, but during a consultation I suggested Magnesium. Wait… What did you just say? Yes there is another supplement that can aid in sleep, in fact Magnesium can help with body calming and relaxing. How does it work? Magnesium helps the body maintain GABA; the neurotransmitter responsible for turning off wakefulness. It can also raise levels of Dopamine to improve mood.
Any other benefits? Yes! It helps with restless leg syndrome by aiding in muscle and nerve relaxation. Not sold yet on adding another supplement to your regime? The best way to increase magnesium in the body is through food; add in some peanut butter, spinach, almonds, eggs, milk, yogurt.
