Elderberry Syrup
Another question I’ve been getting asked lately is about Elderberry Syrup! And I understand everyone’s concern! I’m with you, I have tried my best to clean up my diet, I am taking more vitamins, and washing my hands constantly. What else can I do to improve my immunity?
A few patients have asked me about Elderberry, and while there is no evidence for its use with Covid-19, it does have some benefits for other conditions. Elderberry does help if taken early (within the first 48 hours) of flu symptoms. There are a couple different types of Elderberry formulations on the market; syrup, lozenges, and tea.
I have tried a few of these products, and my personal favorite way to take it is the syrup. If you try the syrup make sure to check the sugar content, I have noticed that while they make taste really good they are often loaded with sugar. I couldn’t find a good product commercially made, so I sourced a local product!
