Maskne
I’ve never struggled with acne, not even during those awkward hormonal high school years. So when I developed acne as a 30-something year-old, I immediately knew the culprit was from wearing a mask...for 12-hours a day!
I work as a community pharmacist, and my company requires me to wear a mask. I do not have any underlying conditions that would exclude me from it, and I am happy to comply and protect myself and others from potentially spreading Covid-19. But my skin on the other hand, is not happy about this change. I started experiencing Maskne and for me that included; breakouts, dry skin, and blackheads. To combat this I tried many different masks during Covid-19; cloth, paper, surgical and I’ve even worn a face shield. It took some trial and error to find the best mask for my skin, but lately I’ve been wearing the paper mask for sensitive skin and changing it out everyday. It’s also important to note that during this time I also stopped wearing makeup, with the exception of mascara. But even with all the different masks, and going without makeup I find myself still found myself struggling with my skin. It was time to change up my skincare routine.
When I consider buying a skincare I have a few requirements that the product meets; it must be clean of harmful chemicals, sustainable, proven and effective. With all of these requirements in mind I choose to check out Biossance, I bought one of their starter kits as an affordable option. There's nothing worse than buying the full size version only to find out that it doesn’t agree with your skin.
