2022 Wellness Trends
New year, new wellness trends!
What will people be doing in 2022? I love to read up on the newest, latest and most popular health trends.
Here is what I think will be trending this year
Mental Health
2022 is a new year, but we are still dealing with Covid. As we embrace the idea of the Covid becoming an endemic (just like the flu) I think mental health will become even more of a priority. What can we do to support mental health: meditate, focus on physical activity, go for a walk, be intentional about how we spend our time. But not limited to just that; therapy and medicating if necessary.
Wearables
Think iWatch, Oura Ring, Levels. I personally love the data I get from my iWatch on my level of activity, looking at my heart rate and how many calories I burn. I am very tempted to get the Oura ring to monitor my sleep as well as the other metric it tracks. And I have personally used Levels and learned so much about my body’s response to food.
Alcohol-Free Living
Maybe it's just the post-holiday slump but I feel like everyone I talk to is taking a alcohol free month during January (dry-January). There are so many good options out there for alcohol free beer and wine. Alcohol is so bad for the body for a lot of reasons, but personally my biggest struggle is that my sleep gets thrown off and it takes me a couple days to get back into my routine.
Mindful Eating
More and more people I talk to are making healthy swaps, or trying to incorporate some nutrient dense foods into the meal. Personally, I’ve been trying to work-in flaxseed, chia and hemp seeds into my daily routine. I do this by adding them into my smoothie. I've also added cinnamon, moringa, and something even a probiotic (Florajen) by opening the capsule and adding it in.
